Time has flown by since our last post…
Our trial set at Pattenburg House feels like so long ago, when in reality it was only at the beginning of this month, on April Fool’s Day. Since then we’ve recorded the majority of our next EP, booked a lot more shows (CHECK THE SCHEDULE ON THE RIGHT… NOW!), played some shows, and secured a sponsorship with Narragansett Beer Co.
Time for some highlights of the last month and stuff to look forward to next month…
April 1st – Pattenburg House
If you guys never heard of
this place out in Asbury, NJ (near Clinton and Annandale) and you’re within driving distance, I’d say hit it up immediately! We played here on one of their showcase Sundays, and locked down a few upcoming shows there. The staff was great, the sound and stage were professional and we got were immediately asked back (having booked 2 dates with them + a benefit concert). Here’s a vid of us playing Under Pressure at the Pattenburg House. For what it’s worth, the two ladies dancing in the vid work there, and they’re this much fun on a Sunday at 3 pm. Make sure you don’t miss ‘em on a Saturday night
April 6th-14th
We knocked out the brunt of our recording in the first two weeks of April, and just have vocals and some extra instrumentation to figure out before we’re all wrapped up. The first weekend we had the pleasure of recording at Marty Eigan’s acoustically perfect rehearsal space, and he also popped in for pretty dirty Flute solo over one of the tracks…
The second weekend we tracked guitars and some vocals at my house but mostly concentrated on finalizing lyrics and figuring out additional instrumentation. Watch out for some hot vibra-slap action in this one!
Anyhoo, somewhere in between there we managed to secure a sponsorship deal with Narragansett Beer Co. who are bringing their nectar down to NJ from New England. We figure our relationship with the bars we play at will help facilitate that. What’s in it for us you ask? For starters, we recently got a box full of koozies and some t-shirts, and the promise of a supply of Narragansett tall boys (look out for that supply when we head up to the Hamilton College reunion).
April 20th & 21st
Without much time to spare, we headed to Manhattan to play a 2 hour set at The Bitter End to some late night revelers. We played with some awesome bands including Chocolate Bread, Curbside Hustle, Bury Me a Lion, and The Wild Deer. After getting home around 5am, we were off to New Brunswick a couple hours later to play at the Rutgers Radio Live at Morrell St outdoor concert with another gaggle of sweet bands. April 26th – Langosta Lounge
Last Thursday we had the pleasure of playing at the Langosta Lounge in Asbury Park. The show went well and we locked down some outdoor shows on the boardwalk from it… should be a blast! We could tell the place was perfect for us went we walked in and there was a Talking Heads marathon playing, so needless to say we’re excited to get back down there this summer.
This past weekend we took a few well earned days off, but now its back to booking, routing, writing, tracking, mixing, arranging, rehearsing, promoting, performing etc etc. Lots of great shows coming up, so if you haven’t checked the schedule yet, give it a look.
See you soon,
- Andres
